友人のシェフ、ジェイミー・オリバーと

今週は有名なチェルシー・フラワーショーが開催され、光栄にもプレビューに招待されました。

混雑する前にゆっくりと見て回れ、たくさんの写真を撮ることができるのは有難いことです。今年のディスプレイは例年に比べて格段に素晴らしいものでした。

ここでは、友人のシェフ、ジェイミー・オリバーがアウトドアのガーデンディスプレイに設置された釜でピザを焼いているところに出くわしました。（ピザは最高でした！）

すべての展示が素晴らしかったですが、今年は特にチューリップが秀逸でした。

This week the famous Chelsea flower show started and I was privileged to be invited to the preview day on Monday.

It is always a treat to get there early before it's too crowded and have the opportunity to have a good look around and take lots of photographs. This year's displays seem to be even more exceptional than usual.

I met up with my friend the chef Jamie Oliver who was cooking some pizzas in a wood oven on an outdoor garden display (I tried some pizza which was really fantastic!)

All the displays were incredible but the tulips looked really amazing this year.

ロンドンのトラファルガースクエアには沢山の彫刻が飾られていますが、中でもFourth Plinthと呼ばれる4番目の台座はアーティストに作品をコミッションして展示する試みを行なっています。

最近では、Yinka Shonibareという男性アーティスト（私の妻と同時期に同じアートスクール、Byam Shawに通っていました）による作品が飾られていました。

彼の作品はこの広場にまさに相応しく、ネルソン卿が率いて勝利したスペインのトラファルガル岬で行なわれたトラファルガーの海戦からアイディアをおこし、特別な帆をつけたネルソン卿の船をイタリアから輸入した巨大なボトルに封じ込め展示してあります―その迫力は目を見張るものがあります。

In London's Trafalgar Square there are many statues but there is a plinth known as the Fourth Plinth which rotates work by different artists.

The latest is by a talented young man called Yinka Shonibare (who actually was at art college the same time as my wife - Byam Shaw London)

His work is completely appropriate for the square which as I'm sure you all know houses the famous Lord Nelsons Column, so Yinka has put Nelson's boat with his special sails inside a huge bottle which was made and imported from Italy - It looks really stunning.
